Panchayat elections will be held in 11 phases in Bihar, notification will be issued on August 24

Patna (Vidya Sagar). The government has accepted the recommendation made by the State Election Commission regarding Panchayat elections. The recommendation has been approved in the cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Votes will be cast in 11 phases. One more phase has been extended in big districts. The election will be conducted in 10 phases in each district. Counting of votes will be done two days after each phase of polling. After the consent of the Governor, a notification will be issued from the Raj Bhavna on August 24. With this, the model code of conduct will be effective in the entire state.

Additional Chief Secretary Cabinet Sanjay Kumar informed that the first phase of Panchayat elections will be held on 24th December and the last phase will be held on 12th December. With the issuance of the election notification, the Model Code of Conduct will become effective in the state. That is, new works of development will not be started. He said that in the election, EVMs would be used for Mukhiya, Panchayat Samiti, Zilla Parishad member, Sarpanch, while ballot paper would be used for Paunch and Ward members. The preparations for the Panchayat elections have been completed by the commission and the government. All the districts have been made aware about the new guide lines.
