Four industrial smart cities being developed under DMIC : Commerce Ministry

New Delhi. Four greenfield industrial cities or nodes are being developed in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and major infrastructure work has been completed there, said Commerce and Industry Ministry on Friday, November 26.

In these cities, 754 acres (138 plots) have been allotted to companies with investments of more than Rs 16,750 crore, it said in a statement.

Anchor investors in these cities

Anchor investors in these cities/nodes include companies such as NLMK (Russia), HAIER (China), HYOSUNG (South Korea), Tata Chemicals and AMUL.

In addition, 23 nodes/projects in other industrial corridors are in various stages of planning and development.

Industrial Corridor program aims to create greenfield smart industrial cities

The Industrial Corridor program aims at creating greenfield smart industrial cities with sustainable ‘plug n play’ ICT enabled utilities to facilitate manufacturing investments in the country by providing quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure to industries.

The government has approved 11 such corridors in which 32 projects are to be developed in four phases.

Dharwad will enhance industrial development

The ministry said that under the Bengaluru-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (BMIC), the Dharwad node has been envisaged to be developed for achieving an accelerated development and a regional industry agglomeration in Karnataka.

The project is spread over an area of more than 6,000 acres. “The proposed industrial development in Dharwad will enhance the existing industrial development and create an investment destination for various categories of industries through the provision of large scale regional trunk infrastructure in Dharwad and will tap the potential of existing road/rail freight movement,” the ministry added.
